It was pleasure because the movie brings back a flood of warm memories associated with my first encounter with this 1970 film that shockingly focused on a gathering of homosexuals at a birthday party that goes off the rails. I'd read film critic Pauline Kael's dismissive review in her book, Deeper Into Movies, but that only whetted my appetite to see the movie, whichback in the days before VCRs or cablewas next to impossible to do.
